Accounts Payable Technician

Job Announcement

The Accounts Payable Technician is responsible for managing accounting and clerical tasks related to accounts payable transactions. This role entails processing and recording a high volume of invoices, as well as updating and maintaining the accounts payable ledger.

Essential Job Functions :

  • Processes accounts payable documentation; receives invoices from vendors and routes to internal departments for approvals.
  • Ensures accuracy and completeness of information and that appropriate account numbers have been identified.
  • Processes check requests, notice of receipts and LPO's; attaches the correct documentation to invoices.
  • Reconciles purchase orders to invoices received.
  • Posts adjustments; enters data into computer systems; and ensures that all accounts payable activities comply with relevant financial policies and procedures
  • Scans & indexes accounts payable checks and related invoice documentation
  • Communicates with relevant suppliers to process invoicing or payment queries
  • Prepares monthly supplier statement reconciliations
  • Handles both external and internal queries by phone and email
  • Investigates and resolves outstanding creditor items
  • Communicates with supervisor, employees, other departments, vendors, taxpayers, auditors, the public, outside agencies, and other individuals as needed to coordinate work activities, review status of work, exchange information, or resolve problems.
  • Operates a personal computer, general office equipment, or other equipment as necessary to complete essential functions, to include the use of word processing, spreadsheet, database, or other system software.
  • Assists other departments as needed.

  • Minimum Qualifications :

    Education and Experience : High school diploma or GED; two (2) years of experience in accounts payable or closely related work.

    Licenses or Certifications : None.

    Special Requirements : None.

  • Physical Demands :

    The work is sedentary work. The employee is occasionally required to exert up to 10 pounds of force to move objects. Additionally requires : handling, hearing voices, lifting, manual dexterity, mental acuity, reaching, repetitive motion, speaking, expressing ideas by the spoken word, visual acuity in data, and walking. Tasks may require the ability to sit for prolonged periods of time at a keyboard or workstation.

    Work Environment :

    Work is performed in an office type of setting, in a relatively safe, secure, and stable work environment, and without exposure to adverse environmental conditions.
