Director of FinanceProtera Health | Remote | Full-TimeAbout UsProtera Health is a technology-enabled musculoskeletal healthcare company partnering with health plans to improve outcomes, reduce unnecessary utilization, and deliver a better member experience through value-based specialty care.We operate within a multi-entity MSO/Professional Corporation structure and work closely with Medicare Advantage and commercial health plans to scale high-quality, data-driven care delivery.The RoleWe are seeking a highly analytical, operationally rigorous Director of Finance & Payer Contracting to help build and scale the financial infrastructure of the company during a critical growth phase.This is a high-visibility role reporting directly to executive leadership with exposure to enterprise payer partnerships, healthcare regulatory strategy, and company-level operational planning. Dual reporting to the CEO and CFO.Position OverviewThe Director of Finance will lead day-to-day finance operations, financial planning and analysis, multi-entity accounting coordination, payer contract financial modeling, and cross-functional support for health plan partnerships. This individual will also serve as a key liaison between executive leadership, legal counsel, and internal stakeholders on payer contracting workflows and MSO-PC operational alignment.The ideal payer contracting environments is strongly preferred.</li></ul>Key ResponsibilitiesFinancial Operations & Accounting<ul style="min-height:1.5em"><li>Lead budgeting, forecasting, and monthly financial reporting processes</li><li>Develop and maintain operational and financial KPI dashboards</li><li>Manage cash flow forecasting and runway analyses</li><li>Support board and investor reporting preparation</li><li>Coordinate accounting operations across MSO and affiliated PC entities</li><li>Oversee intercompany reconciliations and management fee tracking</li><li>Partner with external accounting firms on monthly close and audit readiness</li></ul>Payer Contracting & Financial Modeling<ul style="min-height:1.5em"><li>Build and maintain financial models for payer contracts and enterprise partnerships</li><li>Analyze reimbursement structures, PMPM arrangements, implementation costs, utilization assumptions, and profitability by client</li><li>Support pricing analyses and strategic scenario modeling</li><li>Track payer contract obligations, renewals, and performance metrics</li><li>Partner cross-functionally with operations and clinical leadership to evaluate contract economics</li></ul>Legal & Cross-Functional Coordination<ul style="min-height:1.5em"><li>Serve as a primary finance liaison with healthcare regulatory counsel and contracting attorneys</li><li>Coordinate financial inputs and operational workflows related to payer agreements and MSO-PC structures</li><li>Help operationalize legal and compliance requirements into finance and reporting processes</li><li>Support diligence efforts related to partnerships, audits, and strategic initiatives</li></ul>Systems & Process Development<ul style="min-height:1.5em"><li>Improve finance infrastructure, controls, and operational reporting systems</li><li>Implement scalable processes suitable for a rapidly growing healthcare organization</li><li>Support vendor management, procurement workflows, and expense oversight</li><li>Assist in development of commission tracking and incentive compensation structures</li></ul>QualificationsRequired<ul style="min-height:1.5em"><li>5+ years of experience in finance, FP&A, strategic finance, healthcare finance, accounting, or related fields</li><li>Experience working within healthcare services, provider organizations, digital health, MSOs, health plans, or value-based care environments</li><li>Strong financial modeling and analytical capabilities</li><li>Advanced Excel / Google Sheets proficiency</li><li>Experience managing complex operational workflows with strong attention to detail</li><li>Excellent communication and cross-functional collaboration skills</li><li>Ability to thrive in a fast-moving startup environment</li></ul>Preferred<ul style="min-height:1.5em"><li>Experience supporting payer contracting workflows or reimbursement modeling</li><li>Familiarity with MSO-PC structures </li><li>Understanding of healthcare reimbursement mechanics, claims/payment timing, and provider compensation structures</li><li>Exposure to Medicare Advantage and value-based care arrangements</li><li>Experience serving as a liaison with healthcare legal counsel</li><li>NetSuite or healthcare ERP experience</li><li>Experience supporting board reporting, fundraising diligence,
