Production Head - PEB / Heavy Fabrication

Job Summary The Production Head is responsible for end-to-end manufacturing operations of Pre-Engineered Building (PEB) components and heavy steel fabrication. The role ensures efficient production planning, resource utilization, quality compliance, safety standards, and timely project execution while optimizing costs and maintaining high productivity.

Key Responsibilities

1. Production Planning & Control

• Develop and implement production plans and schedules aligned with project timelines.
• Ensure optimum utilization of manpower, machines, and materials.
• Coordinate with Design, Procurement, and Projects teams for smooth workflow.
• Monitor daily production activities and resolve bottlenecks.

2. Manufacturing Operations

• Oversee fabrication processes including:
• Cutting, bending, drilling, welding, shot blasting, and painting.
• Ensure adherence to PEB manufacturing standards and drawings.
• Improve throughput and reduce cycle time.

3. Quality Assurance & Control

• Ensure production complies with:

• ISO standards

• AWS welding standards

• Client specifications
• Implement quality control systems and corrective actions.
• Coordinate with QA/QC for inspections and audits.

4. Resource & Cost Management

• Optimize production costs by reducing wastage and improving efficiency.
• Monitor material consumption and control scrap.
• Ensure availability of raw materials and consumables.

5. Team Management & Leadership

• Lead and manage shop floor teams (engineers, supervisors, operators).
• Provide training on fabrication techniques, safety, and productivity.
• Set KPIs and drive performance improvement.

6. Equipment & Maintenance

• Ensure availability and proper functioning of machinery such as:

• CNC cutting machines

• Welding machines (MIG/TIG/SAW)

• Rolling and press machines
• Coordinate with maintenance team for preventive maintenance.

7. Safety & Compliance

• Enforce strict adherence to EHS (Environment, Health & Safety) standards.
• Conduct safety audits and ensure PPE usage.
• Ensure compliance with statutory regulations.

8. Continuous Improvement

• Drive initiatives like:

• Lean Manufacturing
• 5S

• Kaizen
• Identify opportunities for automation and process improvements.

9. Project Coordination

• Ensure timely dispatch of finished fabricated structures.
• Coordinate with logistics and site teams for project execution.

• Strong knowledge of PEB fabrication & structural steel manufacturing.

• Knowledge of quality standards (ISO, AWS, etc.).

Educational Qualification

• B.E / B.Tech in Mechanical / Production Engineering (Diploma with strong experience may be considered)

Experience

• 1218 years in heavy fabrication / structural steel industry.
• Minimum 58 years in a leadership role in PEB manufacturing.
