We are seeking a highly experienced Senior Network Engineer for a part-time, fully remote consulting engagement. This person will support a client’s enterprise network environment with a strong focus on Cisco Nexus, Cisco ACI, VMware NSX, and Azure networking as the organization continues its move toward Azure.
The ideal candidate is a hands-on senior engineer or architect-level resource who can assess, design, troubleshoot, and support complex network infrastructure across on-prem, virtualized, and cloud environments.
Key Responsibilities
Design, support, and troubleshoot enterprise network environments with a focus on Cisco Nexus and Cisco ACI.
Support network architecture and implementation efforts as the client continues migrating workloads and services into Microsoft Azure.
Provide hands-on expertise with VMware NSX, including network virtualization, segmentation, and integration with broader enterprise network environments.
Assist with cloud networking strategy, routing, security, connectivity, and hybrid cloud design between on-prem environments and Azure.
Review existing network architecture and provide recommendations for performance, scalability, security, and resiliency.
Partner with internal infrastructure, cloud, security, and application teams to ensure network solutions align with business and technical requirements.
Support troubleshooting of complex routing, switching, firewall, segmentation, and connectivity issues.
Provide guidance, documentation, and knowledge transfer to internal teams as needed.
Required Experience
Senior-level network engineering experience in complex enterprise environments.
Strong hands-on experience with Cisco Nexus.
Strong hands-on experience with Cisco ACI.
Experience with Microsoft Azure networking, including hybrid cloud connectivity, VNets, routing, security groups, VPN/ExpressRoute, and cloud migration support.
Experience with VMware NSX.
Strong understanding of routing, switching, segmentation, data center networking, and network security concepts.
Ability to work independently in a remote consulting capacity with limited oversight.
Strong troubleshooting, communication, and documentation skills.
Certifications
Cisco certifications are strongly preferred, including one or more of the following:
CCNP
CCIE
Cisco Data Center certifications
Cisco ACI-related certifications or demonstrated equivalent experience
Preferred Experience
FinTech, financial services, banking, payments, or highly regulated industry experience.
Experience supporting Azure migration or modernization initiatives.
Experience working in environments with strong security, compliance, audit, and uptime requirements.
Prior consulting or fractional engineering experience.
Engagement Details
This is a 100% remote, part-time consulting opportunity requiring approximately 10–20 hours per week. The client is open to candidates located anywhere in the United States or United Kingdom. The hourly rate range is $130–$150/hour, depending on experience and fit.
Pay: $130.00 - $150.00 per hour
